The Simonis Family

There’s something about arriving at someone’s home for a shoot that’s exciting, but also a little bit scary for me, especially when I’ve only met one of six of the family members. After all, I think any type of shoot is a very personal and intimate experience and I want to make sure that everyone is comfortable with me. Do they love having their pictures taken? Can I make them comfortable in front of the camera? And I always worry about the guys, because truthfully, most guys would rather be doing anything BUT having their picture taken.

With the Simonis family though, I instantly felt like I had known them for a long time. And it’s really no wonder because I met them through their daughter Jacqueline, whom I had met a few weeks before for her wedding consultation. The minute I met Jacqueline I was struck by sweet she was, and by the end of our meeting I just had to give her a hug and tell her that she was one of the cutest people I had ever met. I know it sounds a little bit unprofessional of me, but that’s just the way it was. So when Jacqueline’s mom, Debbie, called to book me for a family shoot a few days later, I went on and on about how wonderful I thought her daughter was – I’m sure it may have been a little strange for her because I just couldn’t stop raving. Booking the family shoot was almost secondary, I just wanted to talk about Jacqueline!

So now I know why Jaqueline is so sweet – she has such a great family.

Here’s Jacqueline – isn’t she cute?
